Miami critics have been lauding Steven Salgado’s portrayal of ‘Mateo’ in the play Las señoras de la casa, directed by Eddy Díaz-Souza. The play ran in Miami from August 10 to September 1, 2024.

Raul Acosta, playwright and critic, praised Salgado’s ability to bring depth to the silent character, noting that “Mateo, the chauffeur, communicates through a complex system of body language that is both clear and compelling, thanks to Steven Salgado’s mastery of micro-actions, gestures, pauses, and proximity.”

Luis de la Paz, journalist, also highlighted Salgado’s performance, stating that “Steven Salgado deserves special attention for his ability to portray multiple characters solely through body language, showcasing his versatility without relying on external changes.”

Wilfredo Ramos, critic, review emphasized the challenge of embodying three distinct characters—Mateo the chauffeur, the dog, and the master of the house—where Salgado utilized “minimal dialogue, strategic silences, and precise actions to deliver a refined and captivating performance.”

Steven Salgado’s performance in Las señoras de la casa has truly made an impact on both audiences and critics.
